Upgraded my plan. I shall call it Jack 7.
Edit: Sorry for disgusting smudges, lol.
As mentioned a few posts ago I got my Oneplus 3T and I wanted to use the phone for a few weeks until I posted my thoughts so here we go...
The phone feels very slim in the hand despite having a 3400mah battery, and it is housed in an all metal back with a gorilla glass 2D front. The machining work on the speaker holes and surrounding area is top notch, the profile mode switch also has a satisfying tactile click when it gets flipped between one of the three modes. The AMOLED screen is punchy and bright as you would expect from this technology and is not too different from a Samsung panel. The home button does not press in like on most phones, it is etched into the glass like the recent iPhones and this also houses the fingerprint sensor. For me, this is perfect as my previous Zuk Z1 had a 'traditional' home button with fingerprint sensor and this broke. Two capacitive buttons flank the home button and these can be customised. The camera is 16mp front and back and is also much more responsive than my previous phone.
Not far from stock android, Oneplus having done a good job of adding a few customisations without adding bloat. Its great having a black theme of android on an AMOLED screen as its saves battery and it really makes the (customisable) colour accents pop. I first got the handset with marshmallow installed and now I am on Nougat, the updates seem to be regular. While I prefer the look of Nougat I have noticed a couple stutters on this build, but I think this is mainly due to Oneplus adding the 3 & 3T into one software build on this release, so I suspect after one or two updates this will be ironed out. Generally speaking the software runs flawlessly and no matter what you throw at it, it just laughs at you.
Powerhouse - that's how I would describe it. I can literally never close any apps all week and run about 30 apps in the recents window and it just breezes through. Apps load crazy quick even if they arent in memory. Im not a massive gamer, but the ones I have played run consistently smoothly. I love AMOLED screens so it is no surprise that it is a joy to view content on this phone, the supporting sound is also pretty good from a one speaker set up. The fingerprint sensor is also accurate and crazy quick - like roadrunner quick. From sleep state, I can just press the home button with a finger and it wakes and unlocks the phone within a split second. The Camera performs well from the times I have used it, auto HDR seems to perform well although I prefer to manually do HDR. The focusing is pretty quick and results are fairly consistent although its no S7 Edge in terms of camera tech. Call quality is very clear and it seems to be reliable with data and wifi connections too. Battery life.. pretty good actually - I can last two working days on one charge, but if I hammer it I would need to charge in day 2. Which leads onto charging - I am really impressed by dash charge. I can charge the phone from about 5% to 100% in about an hour!.
Do I like this phone? Yes. Would I recommend this phone? absolutely. I think you would be very hard pressed to find a phone that beats this in terms of value and performance. Does it have quirks? yeah sure, if I am nit picking the camera hump sticks out further than the back panel so it doesnt sit flat on the desk, it may be considered a 'boring' phone design by some, but who cares when I can have Google Pixel performance at half the cost?! Sure I would like a bigger battery, but thats only because I got used to rocking 4000 mah every charge, but for most users this battery is superior to most and that's not even mentioning dash charge. If you are after a phone that has a great screen, strong battery life with quick charging, stable and quick software, and a very reasonable price - the Oneplus 3T should be top of your list.
Some pics with my new Havana leather wrap...
God daaaayyymn, that looks sleek AF.
Nice write up! Thanks for sharing, mate. How about them camera samples?
Gotta agree, that phone looks fantastic. I might go back to Android some day, but I'll probably stick with Apple for
a couple more years. The new iPhone is said to have some exciting new features and a visual overhaul. So unless
I have to sell my soul (again), I'll probably buy one of those again.
After playing the closed beta, I bought Ghost Recon Wildlands a week ago. Bastard, Stig, and are having a lot of fun
tearing up coca-infected Bolivia. We're missing a member but that's hopefully just a matter of time.
Last month I also grabbed Watch Dogs 2 for cheap. That's my silly go-to single player game at the moment.
And just now I pre-ordered Mass Effect, making use of Amazon prime and their exclusive steelbook offer.
Is unfortunate that here in the U.S. those kind of collection items are not sold anymore
most people here want cheap codes :/
They're not that common anymore here either but I notice that, too. When publishers announce
special editions on Twitter, they often announce that it's EU only.
I would've bought Mass Effect digitally, but since I played the first three games and don't any of
them as physical copies, I decided to grab a steelbook. Hope it looks as nice as it does in the pic.
Even though the N7 logo doesn't make much sense.
I checked images of the steelbook, it looks nice but is kind of disappointing that they don't include a disk to make it complete, just a code.
My current 750 watt power supply is not going to cut it with the 1080 Ti's so I have to purchase a 1000W unit
Evga Titanium power supply
Scratch the above purchase, I forgot I have a Be Quiet 1000W PSU in storage just for this occassion
Hall of fame hype! Thanks, Az!
Interesting, they still have the KFA2 name in Europe
Back in 2014 the parent company stated that the Galaxy and KFA2 brands will merged into one entity, Galax.
The U.S. side went ahead with the name change
I bought a puzzle platformer with snake controls!
It's time for BioShock in spaaaaaaaaaaaace.
Back on topic, my last purchase
MSI Geforce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X
The more I read about AMD Vega, it looks like it will be on the same level or lower than Nvidia's current cards
AMD has been tight lip, which doesn't look promising. If they have something that is beating Nvidia, they should be giving more performance "leaks" so that people can hold on buying Nvidia cards. The performance increase between RX 4XX series and RX 5XX series wasn't substantial and there is a chance of same thing happening with Fury X cards and upcoming Vega.
I am buying the 1080 Ti an a time frame where Vega news will start to surface and If it turns out to be the real deal, then I can return the 1080 Ti.
A new beast joins the family. Nice one!
Yeah, the MSI card is the one getting the best press and user reviews. Plus I have used MSI products many times before and have not been disappointed.
It's not out until early June, but I've pre-ordered a physical copy anyway. Can't wait.
So you got Taken
JC Wings 1:200 Pan Am Boeing 747-8
Since no U.S. sellers sell JC Wings brand, have no idea why, I have to go order from a store in Europe that I have purchased models before.
It should take at least two weeks to get it.
That's a really slow airplane.
More gamez! I bought Everspace, a first/third person space combat roguelite.
It's a tough but pretty game. Will post a few screenshots!
