I'm looking for a modern 17 inch Windows 10 Laptop for my parents.

It'll mostly be used for basic things like office work, full HD video playback, etc. so it doesn't need to have a
very powerful GPU. It should have a decent processor and a good amount of RAM in it to make it a bit future-
proof. You never know what other tasks it might end up being used for.

If the budget allows it, an optional Blu-Ray drive would be nice. I'll also need a small USB mouse, but that one
doesn't necessarily have to fit into the budget.

Said budget is 500 €. Do any of you have any recommendations before I start looking? Thanks!

Nope, sorry. 17 inch for €500 is a dilemma of multiple choices. It's either a half-decent CPU, OR over 4GB RAM, OR acceptable levels of storage... And you'll have to make due with a built-in Intel GPU for that money as well.

    Thanks guys!

However, adjusting the budget is not an option at this point.

    Yes, that's the same one
Should be a good system for your parents :)

Cool, it's even 13% off on Amazon. Will sleep on it and order it tomorrow if nothing changes. Thank you!

The notebook might have a lower resolution(1600X900) compared to the 1080P linked earlier but is still a lot better than the 1366X768 resolution most laptops have at that price or lower.
Also the Intel GPU is not an ordinary one, is the Intel Iris 550, which is faster than the integrated (Intel HD 620) found on the laptop I linked earlier
If the processor with that CPU can run GTA V at low settings, it should be enough for the purpose office work and video playback

    Go for it.
    It has good specifications.
Only difference is the processor is newer. The GPU is a downgrade compared to the one I recomnended earlier

Does the GPU matter? The notebook won't be used to play games, only play video.

For that purpose, the GPU doesn't matter
Plus it will release less heat
