Is starting to look like the 2XXX series is just minor incremental speed bump compared to 1XXX series

Nvidia is using marketing fog with Ray tracing and AI antilasing catchy words.
Ray tracing will require at least two more GPU releases before it becomes playable at good settings/resolution.
developers need to submit their games to Nvidia for them to create DLSS anti-lasing profiles

leaks show that the 2080 is about the same speed of a 1080 Ti; with the price the 2080 is being sold at, it seems like a side grade.

It will be best to wait for 7nm GPUs next year since that's when we will see good speed increase.

Only in the used market do prices come close to that
but who knows how badly they were used for mining.

There are a bunch of reviews out there of the new Turing cards
but this video summarizes well everything.

There cards are a BIG disappointment.
They wasted GPU power on RTX and DLSS features

as stated before, is best to wait next year for 7nm cards.
if you are looking to upgrade, check out Pascal cards before they are sold out

The RTX series is a fiasco.

The 2080 series has been prone to failures
Numerous people have reported their card's dying and even the replacement cards dying aswell.

Since Nvidia made websites sign their NDA, there is little reporting about the issue.
Just a few sites did not signed their NDA and have been reporting the problems

The 2070 seems to also have the problem
