The 970 and 980 GTX cards will be announced on 19th of this month

The cards will not bring much performance improvement over the 700 series, Only lower power draw and lower price point
    $399 and $499

Is basicly the 600 series all over again, in which is a midrange card disguised as a high end.

So it's okay to pull the trigger on current cards then.

I am looking into it at the moment. I was sure I wanted a laptop, but after a lot of thinking I realised a desktop system would be a much smarter decision. I just couldn't find a laptop which would be for me. There's always something I don't like, and when I pay such money for a high-end system, I want it to be the way I want it to be.

Anyway, the reviews show that 970GTX will be quite a nice choice actually.

I think this will sell a lot.

I was like you, thinking of instead of getting another laptop capable of gaming; better than the current one I have.

But the big downside of new Gaming laptops is that Memory and CPU are now soldered to the motherboard like the GPU.

Also the fastest current mobile card, 880m, is the equivalent of a GTX 750 Ti on the desktop, so it gives you an idea of how lesser mobile cards will perform.

Nvidia is said to release new mobile cards next month, but performance on mobile cards will always be two steps behind their desktop counterparts.

If you can get the GTX 970, that will be nice.

Also, the GTX 960 will be released next month for those interested

Exactly, the GPU is a big let down, even for a very expensive gaming laptop. It's just not worth it... And I don't travel anymore, so it's no longer my only option.

The funny thing is that the card is a simple design with a short PCB , yet manufacturers are putting full size coolers

    Talk about overkill

It just partially confirms the rumors about the memory, we have to wait till the 17th for the price and more detailed specifications.

I wonder if it has a backplate, original Titan/Black didn't have it
