EA keeps ruining everything. Studios, franchises. They'll be back on that list of worst companies soon.

    I started playing Andromeda
so far I have been enjoying the gameplay and I haven't seen anything that caused anger against the game.

I'm pretty sure they've fixed most of the things by now. I'm curious to see what has changed since I played it.

I need to pick it up again. Maybe after AC.

I am noticing the criticism of the checkpoint save though.

It is annoying for sure, specially playing hardcore difficulty.
In inquisition the save checkpoint system is less of a problem because the gameplay is different.

I reached the Nexus and I am noticing the the parts where the game got criticized for
    * Dialogue
    * Facial animations
    * a lot of clones

Game characters don't seem that interesting and you don't care for them.
The game doesn't draw you in like the original triology did

The Kett in Andromeda is a very boring enemy design wise
The Geth was a superior/interesting enemy to face in my opinion.

I feel I am just playing this game to regain interest but is not happening, I am going to throw in the towel for now and focus on more interesting games like Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Batman Arkham City, just to name a few of the games I have in my backlog

Do you mean Arkham Knight? Arkham City isn't worth it anymore.

    Oh, right!
Yes, I meant Arkham Knight; I remembered the newest game has the Batmobile and somehow thought the name had City since you need a big place to drive it

    Regarding Andromeda
I don't like the combat system, it is broken.
You cannot control your team mates abilities nor yours since there is no pause feature like previous ME games or like Inquisition

Decided to give Andromeda another shot.
Game has it flaws but I starting to like it as I get more deeper in the story.

at the moment I am stuck on a side mission in Harvarl, where I reach the sages on a tall structure.
I reached the top but now I have now idea how to get down

I heard that, despite its flaws, it has some really great side missions.

Yeah, the missions in Harvarl for the Angara alien race have been lots of fun.

You only face Remnant enemies, other Angarans and planet's wild life, best of all no Kett.
Maybe the Kett get more interesting to combat on later missions but so far they are meh.

The Remnant enemies are the stars in this game

They put way too many side quests in Andromeda; most of them are meaningless.
Is like every NPC has a mission for you

They should have focused on the core game and a handful of side missions
Game is plagued by bugs, enemies getting stuck inside walls etc
Side mission ask to clear the Kett base, which I did, but when I go back the Kett just respawn

Whoever thought it was a good idea to implement save checkpoint too far apart in main missions at Bioware is a moron.
When doing the "Remove The Heart" side mission in Voeld, I died multiple times when I was close to completing the mission; only for the game to return you way back

needless to say, I gave up and lowered the difficulty to the easiest, Narrative, just to complete it.

That's one of my problems with the game as well. Last time I played, before the first big patch, I also turned down the difficulty.

I'll probably keep it on something easy or medium hard when I pick the game up again.

Yeah, that's the only way to bypass the checkpoint system when one gets stuck.
for all the drawbacks this game has, the game is enjoyable once you get past the initial missions.

The best part of the game so far is the Angara civilization and their planets like Aya.

    Regarding, Andromeda
If you ignored the Kett and their weak story plot, the game is enjoyable
Focusing on exploring the planets, doing the loyalty missions of your team mates and some side missions you encounter here and there makes the game feels like a Mass Effect.

I am currently doing the Elaaden world missions, which is the best planet so far with it's landscape and hostile environment.

My previous critical post, which I deleted, was made too soon since I thought the game was going to end after a Kadara mission. Once you reach a certain mission in Kadara, ignore the follow up mission
Where you need to board the Archon ship
and focus on exploring the other worlds/team mates loyalty missions

They, Bioware, should have been more creative about designs and locations of the outposts the player establishes in Andromeda.
Considering the environment is hostile on some of these planets, you would think they would put the outposts in caves or terrain that would protect the buildings from the environment.

    I finished playing Andromeda

    overall I give it a 70% score

The positive things about the game
+Exploration felt similar to previous ME games
    +Firefights
    +The Angara race
    +Alien team mate loyalty missions
    +Team mate conversations
+The Sci-Fi setting with the Remnant
+ The planets you set foot on
    +Final mission

    Negative things encountered
    -The Kett
    -Weak plot
    -Weapon/Armor/store menu system
-repeatable voice overs when reaching certain locations of missions already completed
    -facial animations
-numerous side missions that finished too quickly and the distance covered was too big
-some NPC had 1 or two lines during a side missions
    - The Ark side missions
-Lack of creativity on outpost design for hostile planets
    - The enemy in the final mission would not just shut up

I feel that if the developers of the game had focused only on the Remnant plot, the game will have been a whole lot better. The Kett were just a distraction. The Ark missions were a disappointment. You would think finding each Ark would have been as interesting as that Shadow Broker DLC in ME2. I think there is nothing lost about the Quarian Ark DLC not being developed. The human team mates were just boring compared to the other Alien squad mates.

For all the downside encountered, I think this is a game that should be played by previous Trilogy ME players. I see Andromeda as just a standalone game, not only because of the outcry it received but also because the way it ended, it left little interest in a sequel; even with the little cutscene of the enemy at the end.

Very interesting, thanks for the review. I still haven't found the time to go back to it. Aiming to to so in the first quarter of 2018.
