I've been having a load of trouble getting the SATA RAID 0 Configuration on my PC working again.

It was on another motherboard, but I've had to change to a new motherboard, I've now got a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP, as a replacement for my Asus P4C-800E Deluxe as it was the only 875P board I could find to replace the Asus, the light on the Asus MB comes on, but wont start up, so not sure what the problem is with it, but now that I've got it set up, I cant re-install Windows.

So now I've got my 2 SATA HD's on a RAID 0 setup on the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP, I've checked the manual for the setting, but when I put the SiL3112 drivers on after pressing F6, the windows install still does not pick up the RAID 0 set, and says no HD was found, I will also be trying the Intel ICH5R drivers to see if they pick the RAID Array.

I have my SATA's on SATA0_SB/SATA1_SB

My IDE drives DVD/DVDRW are on the IDE1 connector, and show on the BIOS on:

IDE Channel 0 Master (DVD)
IDE Channel 0 Slave (DVDRW)
IDE Channel 1 Master (NONE)
IDE Channel 1 Slave (NONE)
IDE Channel 2 Master (My SATA HD)
IDE Channel 3 Master (My SATA HD)

My HD Boot Priority is:

1. SCSI-0 : Intel RAID_Volume1
2. Bootable Add-in Cards

Boot Sequence:

1st Floppy
2nd CDROM
3rd HD

you are loading the wrong raid drivers

according to the site you linked..

the raid drivers should be intel ones
then it will be seen in the windows installation

I've tried the SiL3112 Drivers that it said to use in my manual, the one on the net refers to SiL3114 which I also tried, also tried this file, seems to be the only Intel file that extracts properly.

motherboard_driver_raid_intel_hr_boot-disk

The Intel ICH5R pre-install drivers are what I need to get extracted properly, I've been trying to use the ones on the Driver CD and from Gigabyte, downloaded, but they dont seem to extract properly, the menu.exe opens then closes with an error saying it isnt a proper Win32 application, so I cant get the drivers off the support CD either.

I downloaded this file:

motherboard_driver_raid_intel_ich5r_2.0_disksetup

the Zip extracts this file

f6flpy32

which is a WinImage Self extracting file, this doesnt seem to work properly, and wont extract the files, when extracted with WinRar it just extracts temp.IMA file.

Dont know what to do with getting the proper driver as it all seems badly done for the drivers, with self extracting zips within self extracting zips that dont seem to work.

have you tried this link?

Driver Link (http://www.softwarepatch.pl/plik/3750/115/9/kontrolery/Intel_HR_Hance_Rapids_Raid_driver_v_201010.html)

it worked for me

Thanks Aztlan, but the file doesnt seem to want to work on my old PC, having a heck of a lot of trouble doing the most simple straight forward things on this system, and is really annoying.

It just wont access the floppy drive properly, giving an error saying the image isnt supported on this device, or that the floppy cannot be accessed, hence it wont extract the batch file, for the files that I need for the pre-install disc.

Is there any chance you or anyone can extract the batch file from the F6flpy32 (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/download.aspx?url=/8804/eng/f6flpy32.zip&DwnldId=8804&ProductID=1809&lang=eng) and send them to me?

there is something wrong with your floppy drive or disks in that case

I dont think its hardware, its the OS, needs to be re-installed on the old PC, so going to do that now.

Thought I could get things sorted with the main one first, but looks like it will have to be the other way around now.

*really starting to hate PC's now*

in the time you were waiting for an answer..
you would have used only one Hard drive.. install the OS

then download those drivers and put them in a floppy

and try again

I've re-installed the OS on my second PC and everything on hardware is fine again, OS was corrupted so hardware wasnt working properly.

I've created the driver disk for the Intel ICH5R RAID driver, and windows setup now picks up the SATA RAID, I'm now trying to format the new raw partition to NTFS (takes ages), but now having another annoying problem, when the system re-boots for windows install, it says theres a fault with on of the HD's in the array, but on rebuilding the array it says its fine.

If it doesnt work I'll have to install in a single SATA drive and try that, I dont think theres anything wrong with the HD's as they were fine on my other MB, on RAID 0.

is windows telling you that message or the motherboard bios?

Its from the Motherboard BIOS as it boots to try to install windows after the initial windows setup and format/quick format.

I dont think theres anything wrong with the HD's though, so dont know whats going on.

Update:

I've dis-connected one of the SATA HD's and its picking up the SATA using the SiL3112 driver, going to check out after windows installs if I can salvage the drive, there wasnt anything on it anyway, I always use another HD for storage, and the RAID setup for windows, looks like I'll just have to go with a single HD for now.
