well iam trying to save for new graphics card. iam not looking for somthing too expensive, justa something which will give me improved graphics over my geforce 4 mx 440, i guess there would a performence increase aswell.

the reason iam asking is i don't really know what are good cards and what are bad cards, i've only ever had the mx 440, and in myopinion has served me well i've managed to run, gta3 and vice, farcry(just about), battlefield vietnam, castle wolfenstien: all have been playable.
i got broadband 3 weeks ago and i have been playing on line, and found that iam not that great, but i heard some one say that upgrading your graphics card make the game run much smoother and faster and you'll fund it easier to play better.

ps: i live in Ireland so prices tend to be very expensive.

$200 would be about 250 - 300 here.... a bit too much for me to spend.
Hey-Dude: yeah kinda relise that now was just playing enemy territory.... and it was working really well i guess it is where the servers are running from that makes the difference.
my connections is 400.0 Mbps.

thanks for the help

i doubt that, guess u mean 400 kbs as in kilobit not megabit lol

400kbs gives u a 50kb download speed ;)

400k is enough to play online games, but as said if u choose a
server in new zeeland, well u get lag

and to get back to ur gfx card...

u got an mx which is just a supped up gf3 really, so u can buy pretty
much any gf4 card (128mb or 256mb depends on price) and u're gonna notice it ;)

do u have ANY cards in mind ?
would be easier that way lol

Wrong, is supped up alright, but is supped up geforce 2

@ freedom, in your case i wil reccomend an ati radeon 9600 xt, is as fast as a 9700 pro

and a 9700 pro is almost as fast as a 9800 pro

over there they cost around 130-150 USD

gf4 mx = oc'd gf3
gf3 mx = oc'd gf2

at least AFAIK :P

thanks for the info... but i may hang on to my card for the while until i get a new pc

b: actually it 400 mbps i know it seems wierd maybe a mistake or something but i go in my network connections in xp and right click on status and it says
"speed 400.0 Mbps" this under the 1394 connection......
there are two connection on the other one is "local area connection" speed is 10 Mbps...... i don't know what any of that really is but that is the way it was set up by the technition.

I would reccomend the 9600XT or 9800Pro. The 9700Pro is faster by a small amount than the 9600XT but is also a little under 2 yrs older.

Both the 9600XT(256MB) and 9800Pro(128MB) are about £140-150

A 9800XT is still a bit pricey and the X series is a bit out of the quetion price-wise lol.
