well seeing as eddy opened up a thread to show some work, i wanted to open up one to help others get used to photoshop, and get the results they want. feel free to ask q's and post up any advice you think may be helpfull.
TIP: LAYER EFFECTS
if you are new to photoshop, and have an object that you want to have an effect for you can do this in a layer. you can copy and paste an image to automatically make that into a new layer. if you want to see/ manage your layers, all of the layers can be viewed in the bottom right of the toolbars. to get an effect for it, dbl click the layer in the layer palette and it will bring up the layer effect window. here it gives you lots of layer effects to play with until you get the look you want. also there is an opacity level for each layer to give you extar options, and also a 'blending options' selection, to give you even more alternatives. once satisfied with the result if you have a type layer you must first rasterize the type( layers/ rasterize....) then you can proceed as per normal layer. then right click on the (f) in the selected layer and select 'create layer' then you will have another layer which is the effect. here you can edit the effect by erasing or doing what you want, and when finished you select your object layer and click on the tiny arrow (>) in the top right corner of the palette and slect 'merge down'. this will merge into the layer below and you will now have one layer with the added effects. voila!! hope this helps
your turn guys. :D

How do I re-touch (paint) eg: a car a diferent color so it will not change the lighting / shadows etc...I did do it to a number of pics last year..but I'm damned if I can remember.

come on busta!! use the jedi powers! you just select the surface which ever way you do it (eg magic wand) and go to hue and saturation in: image/ adjust..... (i think) then theres two modes of adjustments in the hue and sat. i think theres a normal one and a relative option where you tick the box. :D
Thx Bastard :respect:
I dont doubt that works but I dint do it that way. I used the spray paint brush and all details and lighting /shadows were left intact. Just a diferent colour to original. :? I done it to a stack of wallpapers from gamewallpapers.com
http://tinypic.com/zxbm = Original
http://tinypic.com/zxc7 = re-coloured (with brush)
Resized (originals 1280x1024)

hehe, np........ like the chix btw
Any 1 here got Photoshop CS (v8.0). If so. What is the best method for reducing jpegs...bilinear/bicubic/bicubic smooth(new)/bicubic sharper(also new)..I read on a few places, that, bilinear was best for reducing size/ and bicubic best for increasing size. But there's no mention of the 2 new options, as seen in CS.
why would you increase the size ?
if ur talking bout the dimension, then dont.
jpeg is a compressed fileformat and u should
never raise the dimension of any kind of jpeg.
to lower the size, u choose a higher compression.
in ps6, there are presets like high, medium or u
can do it manuel with a number from 0-100.
im guessing it wont be that different in ps8. it all
comes down what u prefer. do a couple differents
then look at them and choose what suits u and
use that one from then on. unless u wanna print
something (in which case u wouldnt go for jpg anyway)
ud be alright.
hope that helps
Thx for suggestions Blaer. I used to have PS6 myself b4 gettin CS.
So I'll try to explain my :?: better.
If I dl photos, they're normally in jpeg format to begin with.
Most of the time, they seem to be any size but my optimum resolution of 1280 x 1024.
So quite often if I can get the larger size of 1600 by 1200. I'll trim the canvas size down to 1500 x 1200,
then resize to 1280 x 1024. When saving jpegs you get a choice of
low/medium/high and highest (1 to 12)I mostly set on highest 12. (this I've np with)
But when resizing, they're is a choice between bicubic/bilinear/nearest/bicubic smooth and bicubic sharp,
which would/is the best of these settings to use, when resizing jpegs smaller.
lol.. buy a book
i read those things once, but cant remember. my 2 cents is, never do that
in the first place. resize the ps file or export as .bmp or tiff (uncompressed)
and resize that, then convert to jpeg.
and btw. u dont need to use 12 all the time.. try 10, i bet u wont see a differents. hehe
Thx for the advice, very much appreciated.
btw: I h8 books  damn waste of trees.
